Testicular Cancer Survival Rate
Of all forms of cancer, testicular cancer has one of the greatest rates to be cured. The relative survival rate is approximately 99% if the disease can be prevented from spreading outside of the testicle. In worse cases, if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes nearby, the survival rate is around 96% and 71% in the very worst cases when the disease actually spreads past them. Overall, the average man looks at a 95% rate of survival and because of that medical professionals have a reason to feel optimistic about the testicular cancer survival rate.
These numbers are taken from a 5-year relative survival rate which compares cancer patients of 5 years or greater to others that have not been diagnosed by the disease. This is not meant to suggest that 5 years of survival is a good barometer for testicular cancer patients as many patients survive for much, much longer and even beat the disease completely.
The stats can give you a pretty good picture of the testicular cancer survival rate but keep in mind that every situation is unique. A patient’s medical history, especially if there is any history related to cancer, plays a huge role in their testicular cancer survival rate.
